She was young and full of spunk. Although partying with HOJB made her feel like a real grown-up in the big city, she couldn't help but fondly recall her school days, when times were simple and carefree.

Back in the day, Loveflower was typically a good student...

...though, she did have a bit of a wild side.

Running around with the wrong crowd...

... cutting class to hang out on the streets...

... even helping to vandalize school property...

... got her into trouble now and then.

But because of her delinquent behavior and devious beauty, everyone loved her...

While one of them lived in a part of Brooklyn close to Manhattan, the other grew up near the mystical land of Coney Island.

We hiked the 125th 1-train stairs in Harlem..

took the West Side Highway..

Of course, in a day in the life of a New Yorker, time must be made for fun, games and a bit of laughter with those that also occupy the city.

Woooaaah...

So... the pool party/fashion show was like, totally rad OMG..

We were extremely pleased to be celebrating our 2-year anniversary and droppin' the new collection Jungle Juice

Backstage was all the rage.. The show started with our dear friend Miss Roxy Cottontail performing live with Vivien Scarlet.. so steamy... Bounce little kitty, bounce, bounce!

Once the heat had risen to an almost unbearable temp. (I mean the performance had a lot to do with it but so did the sauna in the back of the room).. the ladies hit the catwalk.. Well done ladies. A most special thanks to: Ro - Dressed those models for success! And our new baby boo interns Alex and Kat- you guys are the best!

After all was said and done, the gifts were given in our very expensive, limited edition, one-of-a-kind, hand crafted gift bags and our ride was waiting out front Thank you so much to everyone who attended, for all your love and support, for everything, for the past two years.

We haven’t really blown up anything that isn’t our own as of yet, but we’d like to. The perfect first is Jason Itzler, our dear friend and Superpimp in every definition of the word.

Best known for owning New York Confidential, the hottest and most successful escort agency in the world, Mr. Itzler is writing a book about his life. I can see the steam rising from the pages already.

This deserves a thorough read because one of his clients was the highly publicized horn-dog Tiger Woods:

“Here was this kid who was being treated like a God. He was young and so wide-open, and I could see how much he loved pussy. He was addicted right away. Liquid had the hottest girls in America, and this was a gold digger, star-fucker place. South Beach was always fun and free. The girls circled around Tiger like he was gold.”

The book entitled Superpimp is being shopped around to publishers now, so, hopefully I can get my copy soon.

In fact, we've been quite lively as of late, just not in respect to the blog. My deepest apologies.

Let's see, what's new:

We've made it to the cover of ACCLAIM. no Big DEAL. Granted, these photos were taken with my phone over the photographer's shoulder-that wasn't annoying or anything I'm sure. But you get the picture.. literally.

The issue is set to hit stands in Jan. so stay tuned and keep your little eyes wide open.

In other news, we're at Greenhouse Tuesdays now. This week: bikini-clad go-go dancers? Um, YES.

We're auditioning dancers Tuesday mid-afternoon to early evening. I'll put up the info tomorrow morning I promise. Come out and shake it!

A large German doorman recently asked me in front of a club if I wanted “to make party tonight?”

Deep down in my heart of hearts I knew I wanted to make party, but nobody had ever posed that question in that manner to me before. I was suddenly overcome with a new sense of power. It was as if my destiny of debauchery was passed over from the German team in the opening ceremonies of an Olympic rage-fest, and it was up to me to take that torch of twistedness over the finish line, stumbling across if need be.

Sometimes you plan a party, other times you happen upon one, but there are those great instances where you just Make Party.

During Winter Music Conference, HOJB made party at the Kidz In The Hall & U-N-I show at The Fifth.

They brought the ladies. They brought the bikinis. They brought such an utter party-vigor that would have made that beefy doorman quiver with intimidation, I'm sure.

When they left that night, just about everyone left with them. When you make party, you can take party.

This had to be exactly what he was talking about.

Board Up Miami!

You don’t have to be an urban-chic New Yorker nor a flashy Miami beach-goer to enjoy the fruits of Electric Couture. True, lounging poolside somewhere in the Hamptons or a hotel rooftop (because the nearest body of water is the Central Park lake) is ideal for showing off the suits. Also, the Brazilian cut bottoms fit right into the less-is-more attitude of South Beach fashion, which can be rated on a chili pepper scale ranging from 1 to 5.

However, sporty, active chicks from anywhere are starting to get wind of this new, sexy… uniform.

Back in May, HOJB did a fashion show at the extreme/water sports expo, Board Up Miami. It was a great chance to say, “Hey, Skater Surfer girls, we got shit you won’t fall out of.”

If I’m at the beach and a wave hits me at the wrong angle, there’s a fair chance I’ll be completely naked from the waste up. And hey, depending on the sheer brute tidal force, maybe waste down as well. But with our halter one-pieces and bra-like support tops, these girls can concentrate on hangin’ ten and not hangin’ tits, if you know what I mean.

So tell your lady friends that actually use their muscles at the beach, HOJB’s got you too.

Aaand we’re back. Blog and geographically speaking. After flying south for the winter, HOJB has torn through Miami like a haute hurricane, leaving glitzy shambles in its wake. Been there, done that, and comin’ home to mama: New York City.

We’ll wrap up the Art Basel trip first.
I know, I know, you want more fashion show pictures.

The night had called for celebration, hinted at Mokai, and could be best described by this picture:

This was one of the live artists at our show earlier that night. She was Loving her bikini, to say the absolute least.

We met two very special people at Mokai:

After throwin’ some bows, Jackie and Emily made their way up to her table.
“You can’t be at this table.”
“No its ok!”
“You can’t be here.”
“Paris said it’s ok!”

She was slipped a card that she, herself, had inspired (or was at least told that) and was informed that anything on the website could be hers.

While the girls were doing that, Gia and I were simultaneously meeting him:

Occupation: Contractor
Status: “Richest Blackest Mother Fucker in this place!”

Unfortunately, we didn’t meet him dressed as such. He was actually in some pretty dope suspenders with some fly blonde lady arm candy. They struck up conversation at the bar. After explaining what we were doing down in Miami, we mentioned we were somewhat homeless at that time (between a hotel stay and a friends couch with limited funds). He told us he knew what it was like to be hungry. To not know where you’re going to end up next. Then he invited us to stay with him for a couple nights.

Us four got in touch with him the next day and accepted his offer.

He answered the door as pictured above.

Probably one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met with one of the most... distinct... senses of humor. Ordered us mad Chinese food. Let us shower up and get ready in his two spare rooms. Being a contractor he had some siiick interior deco going on. And his whole house was run by one remote control. Whaaaaa.

Also, a most excited high five to whoever invited Mom to the impromptu booty shaking contest at Purdy Lounge later that week.
50 yrs. old can't stop won't stop.

Alcohol + friend's ma + his boys struggling to keep her covered = free bikini for the lady.

Miami Fashion Show: A Retrospection

A relaxing day at the beach was soon interrupted (after our judgment had been slightly impaired by a few drinks at the pool) when we realized what time it was. Jackie and Emily were expecting us to be showered and ready in an hour. Oops.

Call time was at 5pm, which Gia (stylist, make-up artist, best friend of Jackie) and I were a little late to, partly due to my intense walk through the streets of Miami looking for a video cam charger. $75 for that by the way. Trip is turning out a tad pricier than expected. Whatever. So we arrive. Turns out the guy that was supposed to come through with lights… well… didn’t, so to avoid total blackness the girls had to run out and buy some, another unexpected expense for the Jackie Brown account. They weren’t optimum for viewing fabric detail and pattern intricacy, but hey, better than nothing.

So Bam! Hair and makeup start. A man named Kim was blow-drying girls in front of one full-length mirror while Gia set up shop on a workout bench. Oh, didn’t I mention our green room was the hotel’s sorry excuse for a gym? No? Oh. Well it was. It was a gym with a rubber floor full of holes perfect for tripping anyone in heels, which we all happened to be wearing.

The girls were looking fabulous and I was running around taking pictures, video, and making the models tiny plates of hors d'oeuvres from the free food table. The fact that the “behind the scenes” wasn’t very behind at all—it was actually right next to the pool area/catwalk with the door open—made the audience a whole part of the experience. They could come check out the suits close up, talk to the minds behind the designs, and see what, exactly, a production like this entails. And with all of the live visual art being created everywhere, models preparing for the runway seemed to fit right in to the performance.

After three hours of prep, the show was to start. Without a microphone it was somewhat of a jumpstart actually. Emily, being a model herself, started the line-up and the rest followed with grace.

These girls Killed It, and that must be applauded because a few of them had been just picked off the shores of South Beach that very day. After everything ended, we were left with a buzzing crowd and an impressed audience, but what was there not to be impressed about?

Needless to say, HOJB made a obvious splash in Miami.

Coney Island: Electric Couture take 1

It started with a whirlwind of hairspray & heels; with eyeshadow & earings covering every visible surface in the photographer’s studio apt., a hop skip and a jump away from Union Square.

Marley Rizzuti: the new all-star photographer in the HOJB family, Jillian Villofane: layin' on that funky makeup all heavy and hot, Laura Lalanka: teasin’ hair extraordinaire, Gia Gutierrez: super-stylist, Rachel Zoe move over, and me: the intern.

Anyway, hustling out of the room, balloons and bags of shoes in hand, we were ready to embark on the first official shoot of Electric Couture.

The drive was nerve-racking, considering the hour of sunset was unknown at that moment, as was the duration of the traffic jam in which we found ourselves. It wasn’t what anyone would particularly call a “sunny” day either. And what will fall rapidly approaching, we could be losing the light before we knew it.

It was Jackie, Emily, Gia, Laura and I in one car, Jillian, Marley, Deirdre, Gabriella, and the other model, whose name escapes me now, in the other. (Ok, I know I spent the entire day with her, but considering the fact that that model spoke particularly broken English, therefore refrained from making much conversation with me, the intern, really makes me less of an ass for not remembering her name, right?)

So we get there. Some of the ladies hit the famous—or infamous, depending on personal taste—Nathan’s hotdogs.

Emily and I were elected to run and ask how we might go about shooting inside of the gated-off, creepily deserted, completely depressing, and almost overwhelmingly eerie Coney Island Astroland Rides.

What used to vibe gleefully, emit quintessential NY fun, and color the summers and lives of those who enjoyed its shores, now lie defeated and empty, except for the toothless man who we shamefully tried to coax into letting us in. We smiled, we laughed, we mentioned swimwear models, only to find out that this man had no authority whatsoever. He did, however, have a finger to point us in the right direction of civilization (security office) and the ability to totally embody everything you could possibly attribute to or associate with a Coney Island carny… at their absolute best.

With him, I regret, we have no picture.

Still a little shaken, we hurried up some metallic stairs with hope and a grip of balloons still in hand. After asking the officials politely and attempting to bribe them with those same balloons, we were ultimately shut down. If only we had called sooner or at least taken a stab at setting this up, we probably could have had a shot. Whatever. It was back to the boardwalk.

Within an hour of shivering, yet sexy poses, Marley had called it a wrap and we were set.

I think despite the obvious beach-bathing suit connection, Coney Island was a perfect spot, at least artistically, to shoot.

A more electrifying backdrop would have jolted the viewer, muted-retro was the way to go.

I dug the shoot. All women on set. Great ambiance. A bunch of people meeting for the first time and working together. You really should have been there, really.

Alright so we're up and running! I suppose I should start off by summing up what we've been doing as of late. Electric Couture is almost set to hit the market, as we're finishing up the photo shoots soon and heading to Miami this upcoming weekend for Art Basel, which should be a complete blast might I add.

Shooting the new line has been great. For those of you who are unaware of what we're soon attempting to bring to a store with a great rep. near you, this is a brief and I guess official write-up of our new baby:

High-voltage colors, wildly outrageous patterns, and a charge of flashy textures are what House of Jackie Brown’s Spring ‘09 line—Electric Couture—bodaciously channels from the 1980s. In a time where style defined substance, and “Material Girl”s were all “Pretty in Pink”, swimwear rocked some of the hottest cuts the industry has seen. For those women lucky enough to have experienced this age of free-spirited fashion expression, the vintage fabrics will take you right back to that rad time when neon paint-splatters against black & white was funky-fresh and mesh material totally meant sexy. But not to worry younger generations: the soft spandex, iridescent material, and rouged designs incorporate a modern twist to these re-vamped, innovative pieces; allowing girls of all ages to get a taste of bold bathing suit culture.

With the new line shot in traditional, timeless NYC locations—the ever-energetic Coney Island boardwalk, in front of a couple classic Keith Herring murals, and of course, in a quintessential city nightclub—Electric Couture’s image screams beat street urban-chic. In addition to the signature Brazilian-cut bottoms, Jackie Brown now offers adjustable slipknots to give that extra American-style coverage. The tops, apart from their distinctive bandeaus, will include triangle and bra-support constructs, giving us that extra little lift we love. Any shape will feel completely comfortable in these hot bikinis or one-pieces, the collection consisting of five of each. Owning classic, culturally iconic names synonymous with the 80s, such as “Karma Chameleon” and “Dynasty,” the pieces capture the time and place in which Jaclyn York (born ’83) and Emily Brown (’81) spent their childhood days.

Bam.
